Weekly Announcements

Week of March 9th - 13th

We have had another beautiful weekend and now the days will be longer!  This week we have the time change, a full moon, and Friday the 13th.... !  Heaven help us all!!!!

This Friday is a half day, so we will treat this week as a 4 day week.  All assessments and work will be completed by end of day Thursday.

This week we are going a little old school and using a Journey's reading book from several years ago.  We will use the story "Ever-Living Tree" to review text structure, using text and graphic features, and identifying unknown vocabulary within a text.  This story is in an old text book that students CAN bring home.  Thursday, we will take a comprehension test on this story.

In grammar we will wrap up comma rules.  We have learned the eight most common rules.  There will be homework for these 8 rules on Monday and Tuesday.  We will take a quiz on commas this Thursday.

This week we will review all Latin and Greek words parts that we have studied up to this point.  We will have a quiz on the prefixes this Thursday.  There are 20 prefixes that we have learned.  This quiz will be on the prefix spelling and meaning.  mono - one, tri - three, penta - five, hexa - six, dec - ten, bi - two, quad - four, oct - eight, cent - hundred, milli - thousand, anti - against, mega - great, syn/sym - same, dys - different, auto - self, contra - against, re - again, sub - under or from below, trans - across or change, pre - before

I hope you all have a great spring break!
